Hikkaduwa Beach

Hikkaduwa is a town in south west coast of Sri Lanka. It is a most popular surfing and tourist region with number of hotels including  five star hotels. Speciality at Hikkaduwa is the coral reef sanctuary. Large number of species of coral fish and number of species of reef fish are found here.

Mount Lavinia Beach

Mount lavinia is a town located about 10 kilometers South of Colombo. Mount Lavinia beach is one of the famous beaches close to Colombo from the early days. One reason for this is due to the famous Mount Lavinia hotel. The hotel building has a history more than 200 years.

 

 

 

Mirissa Beach

Mirissa is located at Matara district of southern province. It is a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka.

One reason is that it is one of the Island’s whale and dolphin watching location. Another popular tourist location at mirissa beach is coconut tree hill  where we get nice coconut tree plantation.

 

Tangalle Beach

Tangalle, a town in Hambantota District, Southern Province is located about 195 kilometers from Colombo. Tangalle Beach is one of the International tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. The beach stretches for miles on west side and east side of the town. Tangalla Beach is protected from the sea by a coral reef.Another interesting place to visit,near Tangalla is Hummanaya Blowhole.

Unawatuna Beach

Unawatuna Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations. This is due to it’s attractive beach and beautiful corals. As there are shallow areas, visitors can enjoy diving and see these beautiful corals. In 2004 most of the restaurants were destroyed due to Tsunami. But after that new hotels were built for the accommodation of the tourists.

Nilaveli Beach

Nulaveli town is located at 16 kilometers from Trincomalee. After the tsunami and civil war in Sri Lanka,the arrival of tourist decreased but now it has increased again. Near Nilavel Beach there is a Sri Lankan national park known as Pigeon Island National Park.

Arugam Bay Beach

Arugam Bay is located at about 117 kilometers from Colombo and about 4 kilometers from Pothuvil town. This beach is a popular surfing location.
